My name is Scott Smith and I have been racing triathlons for over 10 years. I have the experience and knowledge to help you achieve your goals in triathlons. I am a proud husband to a beautiful and supportive wife as well as father of two teenagers. My journey began with a sprint triathlon in 2010. After my first race, I was hooked and have been living a triathlon lifestyle ever since.
My drive to coach and support others in their multisport journey was born out of the support I received as I joined this community; racers, race staff, spectators and the personal support teams. They are all out there cheering on others and supporting a fun, healthy way of life.
Triathlons and multisport events are challenging. Everyone out there has been on their own journey to get there, and it still gives me goosebumps to see them cross that finish line. I know they had challenges with their training along the way, personal struggles and maybe even some injuries. And yet, they push and persevere!
One other thing I love about triathlons are the destinations. Sometimes it's great to race in a local home-town race, and yet having the opportunity to travel to some amazing destinations to race always makes me excited to race. United Kingdom, Colorado Rockies, Alaskan lakes...the world is full of triathlon racing destinations!

I chose to go through the multi-month Ironman University coaching certification to further my knowledge of triathlon training and to help give back to the sport I love. The certification course includes 12 education modules, including exercise physiology, nutrition, and how to develop specific training plans for various levels of athletes. During and at the conclusion of each module, I completed quizzes and tests to confirm my knowledge. Finally, at the end of the course, I took a thorough exam and a 15-page written evaluation. In the written portion, I was required to analyze real-life scenarios for athletes, including how to address injuries, schedule changes, and prepare training plans.
